Title: Peaceable Kingdom
Measurements: 69” tall x 78” wide
Medium: Various textiles
A reference to Edward Hicks' series of imagined American landscapes, this piece uses written pattern instructions to make a rabbit doll, a painting of a cow by Alabama/New York painter Mike Howard, a printed pillow fabric of a bass leaping from the water, an American flag, various floral bedding, the backing of a quilt that is rust stained from what was apparently a flood, drawings of people and guns and money and food by my children, and the first quilt my mother ever made; at age 19, a Double Wedding Ring. This piece is about rural America.
