Lindsay Godin is Assistant Professor of Photography, and Design and Photography Program Coordinator at Valdosta State University in Georgia. Lindsay instructed at University of Nevada Reno from 2018 to 2020, after graduating from the University of Iowa MA/MFA Dual Degree Program in Photography and Graphic Design. Lindsay researches photography curricula and creates photo documentaries that shed light on contemporary American cultural norms and political values, looking at their effect on American society in the macro scale. She takes interest in climate change's negative effects, particularly on the large populations of the mountain west. Futurisms is her on-going body of work that aims to encapsulate mankind’s preoccupation with exploring new territories beyond planet earth. Inspired by archeological evidence of pre-civilization, photographs of 19th century western frontiers, and modern-day visual renderings of outer space and extraterrestrial landscapes, Futurisms illuminates mankind’s instinctive motive to observe, imprint, dominate, and ultimately transform new territory. Lindsay's photographic images are in permanent collections of the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, NY, ItsLiquid in Venice, Italy, and the Lehigh Valley Center in Bethlehem, PA. Her recent work has been published in Photo District News, YET Magazine, and Booooooom. Most recently her work has been shown in 2023 at the Bountiful Davis Art Center in Salt Lake City, Longwood University in VA in 2023, and The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedford NJ in 2024. Her work has been in over 50 exhibitions nationally and internationally since 2014.
