TRIPLE THREAT : 3 ARTISTS REDEFINING SAVANNAH
MATT HEBERMEHL / MICHAEL PORTEN / TROY WANDZEL
February 10th — March 30th
Florida Mining is pleased to present Triple Threat, an exhibition of new work by three of Savannah’s most notable emerging artists, with an opening reception on Friday, February 10, 2012. The exhibit, curated by former Jacksonville-resident Cindy Szczecinski (née Soud) of CAS Fine Art Group, explores the convergences and divergences in the methods of three Savannah-based artists.
Matt Hebermehl’s signature pattern and icon based work has earned him awards and recognition from American Illustration, Applied Arts, Juxtapoz, and the Society of American Illustrators. His work has been exhibited nationally, in cities from Los Angeles to New York, including a six month installation at the Jepson Center for the Arts in Savannah.
Michael Porten explores the intersection of traditional portraiture and contemporary pop culture, utilizing colorful graphic and op-art elements within a series of self-portraits. His work has been featured in group and solo exhibitions worldwide. Porten holds a BFA in Illustration as well as an MFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Troy Wandzel has exhibited around the world, including Sotheby’s auction houses and the Mona Bismarck Foundation in Paris. His portraiture represents an infatuation with human skin and the eye’s natural ability to bring colors and shapes into recognizable form.
Join us for the opening reception the evening of Friday, February 10th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.
